HP5500UV Large Format Inkjet Printer
GENERAL FILE SUBMISSION PROCESS For the following Operating Systems:
Mac OSX 10.3.2 and later
Mac OSX 10.0 to 10.3.1, and Mac OS9
Win XP, Win 2000

Submitting an electronic file to Printing Services for production on our 42"-wide Hewlett Packard 5500UV printer can be done in a number of ways, depending upon which application you use to create the file. For all operating systems we recommend you use the HP5500 driver so you can set up your document at full size (or the largest size supported by your application). Macintosh OSX users should have the driver preloaded in their system, and can generally select it in the print dialog box. There is no PostScript driver for Windows, so Windows users should make their poster's size as large as they can within their application, saving it with the same width to length ratio as you'd like it printed.

We accept Microsoft PowerPoint application files, EPS, PDF, TIFF, JPG, or PostScript files for large-format production:

1. If you are creating a poster in Microsoft's PowerPoint for either Macintosh or Windows, we accept native application files. Press here for instructions to prepare a PowerPoint slide for poster printing. Then submit your PowerPoint file to Printing Services using our Nuvera Drop Box, via FTP, or on either a CD-ROM or thumbdrive; see the submission instructions for your particular operating system, at right.

2. If you are using a page-layout program (e.g., Indesign) you need to create a .PDF file for production, then submit your PDF file to Printing Services using our Nuvera Drop Box, via FTP, or on either a CD-ROM or thumb drive. See the submission instructions for your particular operating system, at right.

3. If you are using a graphics program (e.g., Photoshop, GraphicConverter, Illustrator, etc.) you can submit your file as a TIFF, JPG, or EPS file. (However, we do not accept 16-bit TIFF files for production, and we recommend you change all fonts to outlines prior to saving the final file.) Once you have your finished file in one of these formats, submit the file(s) to Printing Services; use the submission instructions for your particular operating system, at right.
